A couple of months back I posted about designing pro bono for a while. I got a number of enquiries about of websites and ideas. Many of which are now live.

One such enquiry was from motordealersoftware.ie who found me via @murrion. He had a design in mind one which costed around $60 from a template site, although copying a website is not something anyone finds joy in I decided to give it my best and spent a good 2 hours working on it.

The problem with copying something is that it never will be as good as the original and changes were sent on to me, I played around with it but thought it was a losing battle so time to say no more and just send on what I had done.

Over a month has past and today I receive an email asking for the source so someone could take over and build from what I had done, I take the time to have a look but realise I trashed it (wouldn’t you) due to the orange screenshot staring back at me making me want to vomit.

A few moments later this tweet pops up in my stream via @murrion

Thats a bit dumb, got back to a designer to ask for some work he did recently, he deleted the files.

In the meantime I look back over the email conversation and notice I had in fact sent on all the source code and reply with

oddly I sent him on the index file before deleting it, so he does have it… so is it ok that I trashed it?

And receive this in return

You’re right, I just got him to show me all his emails. Index was there. Sorry about that.

podcasting

Back in November 04 I started blog about podcaster. It was something I was massively passionate about, something which rewarded me with episodes of Dawn and Drew and Adam Curry on a daily basis. I lived for that blog, spent hours looking around for the next story, replying to comments and numerous emails for people interested in starting their own mostly notably a number of radio shows on RTE.

I even produced a number of podcasts of my own. 10 months later I decided to spread my wings and pick up a domain which became podcom, the first ever domain I registered, I was in full control could decide if I wanted to put google ads and easily modify the theme and upload every plugin imaginable. Oddly my passion for blogging about this subject soon died and I can’t fully pinpoint why. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »
